The stability condition of the cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov field is examined explicitly by solving the eigenvalue equation for the second order variation of the energy, which is reduced to an algebraic equation through a coupled dispersion formula. We confirm that the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov field unstable in the backbending region of an irregular rotational band, even though the frequency of the softest random phase approximation mode always has a positive value. We investigate properties of the softest mode in detail.
