Mode-Mode Coupling Model for the Four-Body Correlations in Light Nuclei

The four-body correlations in light nuclei are investigated from a view point of many-body theoretical description. The four-body scattering modes are described in the quadratic form of two-body scattering modes. The two effects of the ground-state correlations and of the many-j configurations are taken into account by the random phase approximation, on the assumption of the spherical single-particle field. This mode-mode coupling model, which leads to a unified picture for even nuclei near closed-shell nuclei, is applied to the study of the low-lying positive-parity states of even nuclei in Ca region. Fundamental aspect of the level structures in ^44Ti, ^44Ca, ^36Ar and ^36S is reproduced. The structure of the four-body eigenmodes and electric-transition properties are investigated.
