Note on Coherent Neutral Pion Photoproduction from the Deuteron

We take into account the l=2 and l=4 spherical wave contributions to the γd→dπ^0 cross section and find that while the l=4 spherical wave contribution is zero, the l=2 spherical wave contribution, in the first pion nucleon resonance region, is at best 2%. The theoretical angular distributions of the cross sections, for incident photon energies of 280 MeV and 400 MeV, are compared with the available experimental data.
