An intermediate type of solution to the multichannel N/D equation is investigated. It is found that the number of independent parameters contained in the subtraction constant matrix N(∞), which may be considered as renormalized direct coupling constants, is at most n in the n-channel case. In order to see the meaning of this reduction of the number of free parameters, a multichannel Zachariasen model is examined in detail. It is found that this reduction is reflected in the effective reduction of the number of free parameters of the bare direct coupling constants λ, i. e. the effective factorizability of λ. This result may be considered as a suggestion of the equivalence between the four-Fermi theory and the Yukawa theory in the multichannel case.
