High energy elastic scattering above a few tens of GeV/c at finite angles is investigated as the shadow scattering of multiple production, for which a phenomenological, peripheral and uncorrelated jet model is used by taking into account energy-momentum conservation. The elastic amplitudes can be related to the production amplitudes of the emitted particles in multiple production in a rather simple form. It is shown qualitatively that the proton-proton differential cross section near a c. m. angle of 90° is almost flat. Also the difference between the π-N forward and backward peaks, and the difference between the π^+-p and π^--p backward elastic scattering are obtained. Rough quantitative estimates are performed by an appropriate choice of the production amplitude which seems to be consistent with the data on jets.
