On the assumption of incompressibility and an axially symmetric configuration of a plasma, some properties of local instability (Suydam's instability) are clarified. Then the growth rates of the local instability are estimated. By the use of this hydromagnetically predicted value of the growth rate, a condition is obtained under which the local instability may be suppressed by the stabilizing effects of finite Larmor radii of ions.
