• Pion spectra in inclusive nucleon-nucleus collisions for the incident energies from 240 to 800 MeV are interpreted in a standard single scattering model with realistic high momentum components of nuclear Fermi motion taken into account. The slope from the peak positions as well as the parabolic shape near the peak is well reproduced by this model over all the experiments. However, the magnitude of the cross section does not agree with the data at lower incident-nucleon energies.
