The bootstrap conditions are examined for some soluble models in the framework of S-matrix theory. The important role played by the high energy behavior and CDD zeros of the scattering amplitude for the validity of the bootstrap mechanism is pointed out. Special attention is paid to clarify the physical meaning of CDD zeros. Comparisons with field theoretical approaches are made in order to exhibit some aspects of the S-matrix theoretical approach.
