A three-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equation is derived for cyclotron waves propagating along an external magnetic field in collisionless plasmas on the basis of the Karpman Krushkal theory of quasi-monochromatic wave propagation in nonlinear-dispersive media. The local-nonlinear coefficient agrees with the one obtained by Kako for the cold plasma, while the nonlocal-nonlinear coefficient is calculated explicitly by taking into account contributions of the resonant particles having the group velocity of the wave.
