Strong peaks observed in the energy spectrum of the ^<27>Al(^<3>'e, p)^<29>Si reaction in the continuum excitation energy range are interpreted as an intermediate structure appearing in the energy spectrum. The intermediate structure comes from a restriction of the degrees of freedom of the motion in excitations of the residual nucleus. It is pointed out that there will be interferences among energy spectra, excitation curves and angular distributions if such an intermediate structure is observed in the energy spectra as well as in the excitation curves. It is also shown that the intermediate structure is one step of a series of sequential reaction processes based on a new time-dependent treatment of nuclear reactions.
