The low-lying negative parity states in ^<17>O are studied within the 1 hole-2 particle and 3 hole-4 particle configurations, being restricted the total angular momenta to 1/2, 3/2 and 5/2. It is shown from energy spectra, the spectroscopic factor due to the reaction ^<18>O (p, d)^<17>O and the β transitions that the negative parity states below 6 MeV are described mainly with 1 hole-2 particle configurations and that the states due to 3 hole-4 particle configurations may appear nearly 7 MeV.
