Reinterpretation of the Two-Dimensional Internal Space Associated with Dual-Resonance Models. I : Conformal-Spin Zero Case

After a short account of the dynamical variables of the dual-resonance models in terms of the Fourier analysis, it is shown that they are obtainable as boundary values of quantized fields holomorphic in the complex (one-time, one-space) Minkowski space. The algebraic laws governing the internal space are reproduced in the framework of the Lagrangian field theory. In particular, the group formed by the conformal transformations of the unit-disk into itself is reinterpreted as a sector of the conformal group of the two-dimensional Minkowski space-time.
