Growth Equation for a Simple Vapor Deposition Model

From a Monte Carlo study of the interface width W(L, t) and the height-height correlation function G(r, t)of a simple vapor deposition model, it is found that this model exhibits crossover behavior from the Mullins-Herring universality class to the Edwards-Wilkinson universality class. Using a birth-and-death-type master equation approach, a continuum equation which is believed to describe the crossover behavior is derived. By numerical integration of this equation crossover behavior similar to that of the Monte Carlo simulation is found.
