Level Statistics in Pseudointegrable Systems

We study the level statistics, in particular the spectral rigidity Δ_3 of pseudointegrable systems with rough boundaries of different genus numbers g. We find an intermediate behavior between Wigner and Poisson statistics. By varying several system parameters, we find that the genus number g seems to be the main parameter determining the position of the system between both limits. The behavior of Δ_3 is close to the Poisson limit for small g and moves toward the Wigner statistics with increasing g. A preliminary investigation of the statistics of the eigenfunctions confirms this behavior.
