Experiments for the synthesis of superheavy elements and the predictions of magic numbers within several approaches are reviewed. Different channels of nuclear decay are discussed like cluster radioactivity, cold fission and cold multifragmentation. We also consider collective phenomena of spherical superheavy nuclei.
