A ligand-exchange chromatographic method for the dermination of EDTA and Ca(II)-EDTA is presented. A solution containing EDTA passed over a column of chelating ion-exchange resin in the copper(II) form. On the other hand, a solution containing Ca(II)-EDTA passed over a banded column in sodium(I) and copper(II) forms. Copper(II) stripped from the columns was determined by atomic absorption method. A quantity of copper was proportioned to the quantity of EDTA and Ca(II)-EDTA. Recovery of EDTA and Ca(II)-EDTA was good and the calibration curves were found to be linear between 1 μM and 80 μM.
