大学における英語速読測定のための考案

Much has been written concerning the various ways in which students read : skimming, scanning, intensive reading, extensive reading and such. In the classroom, however, for a variety of reasons, there is a need to focus on measurable outcome especially concerning the effects of chosen methods of instruction. In this paper is given a simple mathematical formula that the author has found useful as a measurement of reading speed in classes of various size and across a variety of levels. Also considered are the uses to which this information can be put with the idea of converting theory into practice.
