A new method for micro-quantitative estimation of capillary permeability using confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM)is reported. The method proved to be useful for the quantitative estimation of fluorescein permeated through capillary wall into surrounding tissue. Pathologic observations of the retinal tissues of diabetic rats, and increased capillary permeability estimated by the method are presented.
