慢性難治性胃潰瘍の心理療法について

Prolonged hypnosis was applied to a patient afficted with chronic stomach ulcer in which a long-term internal treatment proved intractable. His symptoms which had shown no improvement for the past several years disappeared completely within only 3-4 months of this treatment.In addition, in several cases of stomach ulcer, ample sleep, rest and relaxation which were assumed to be the main therapeutic mechanism of this approach, were provided by means of sleeping pills and tranquilizers, but there was no improvement in their symptoms. However, later application of prolonged hypnosis led to prompt and marked improvement.On the basis of these facts, the author attempted to discuss the therapeutic effects of hypnotic trance in psychosomatic medicine.
