(1) The orthopedic diseases were classified into four groups as follows; (A) traumatic diseases, (b) spinal diseases, (C) joint diseases, (D) others. These groups were discussed individually from the point of view of the "psychosomatic medicine on pain".(2) Even in the traumatic diseases such as whiplash injury, fracture and sprain, it was considered to be important to give the psychosomatic approach.(3) It is also valuable to give the psychosomatic treatment for the spinal disease, especially in the low back pain syndrome. However, it was interesting that there were some difference in the C.M.I.pattern, depending on the individual diseases, such as disc hernia, spondylolysis, myofascial low back pain, and so on.(4) The psychosomatic approach was also stressed not only for the treatment of the rheumatoid arthritis, but also for the osteoarthritis and periarthritis humeroscapularis.(5) The other type of pain such as in peripheral nerve paralysis, phantom limb and joint contracture should be treated in connection with rehabilitation medicine.
