101 patients of essential hypotension were chiefly examined at the point of psychosomatic aspect. Results were as follows.Concerning the Cornell Medical Index (CMI), these patients were remarkably increased at the items of J, K, C, I, V (autonomic complaints) than the healthy.Especially, in the male, neurotic and autonomic complaints were much more dominant than the healthy. The complants of essntial hypotension were resembled that of the so-called indefinite complaint syndrome.In the mecholyl test, 60% of essential hypotension showed the sympathetic hyperreactor. Also, in the CMI, 65.6% of the patients showed the increased autonomic complaints which was named group 1 and 3. Another 30% of the patients were showing neither autonomic nor neurotic complaints which was named group 4.So that, the majority of the patients were considered as the type of vegetative dystonia that is the one of the classification in indefinite complaint syndrome. The postural changes of retinal artery pressure were within normal limits.
