小論の構成は次の通りである。分析対象の資料は学生に提出してもらっているので、次節では、学生に予めこちらから提供しておいた「複合」という語形成の概略を述べ（つまり、教授された情報の理解度によって新語創造の操作に差異が生じてくるのである）、3節では、学生に与えた新語創造及び解釈のための材料について説明する。続く4節で資料の提示と具体的分析を行い、最後の5節でまとめを行うことにする。When we coin innovative compounds using a group of limited English words, we inevitably are under some constraints on the coinage. The aim of this paper is to try to clarify and define them. And the result of analyzing the present data has enabled us to propose the following three constraints on the coinage:(1)Constraint on Semantic Relevance:First of all, find two words which are semantically relevant each other. (2)Constraint on Combinatorial Freedom:In you cannot find such two words at all, then find a word which has a relatively high degree of freedom concerning the combination of elements. Usually it is a verbal element. (3)Constraint on Markedness:If there is no verbal element among the words designated, or even if there is, when the verbal element had only a very low degree of combinatorial freedom, then also find a relatively unmarked word which needs no special knowledge to understand. Although these constraints may be informal and even naive, they just show us that we are intrinsically apt to coin/interpret new compounds with as little efforts or stresses as possible.
