Constructing the 14th Life Tables, crude death rates (q'x) were obtained by the αp-δp method. Crude death rates by marital status in 1975 are computed from the above q'x dividing by construction ratios of deaths and of midyear Japanese population by marital status. We smooth these values to get mortality rates (qx) using Greville's formula (3rd order, 9 terms) . However qx for advanced ages are obtained using Gompertz-Makeham's formula. Values of the other functions are calculated by the similar methods with the 14th Life Tables. Employing the correlation analysis of function values between the life tables by marital status and the 14th Life Tables, the perfect or almost perfect correlation exists in qx, ix (survival rates) or ex (expectations of life) for both sexes. Moreover the perfect multiple correlation exists in them. Comparing means of qx at each age (males:18〜108, females:16〜110), the married takes the lowest means, the widowed takes the second, the divorced takes the third, and the single takes the highest for both males and females. So on the means of ex at each age,the married takes the highest, the single takes the lowest, and the widowed takes higher ones than the divorced. Examining the function value ratios of three types of marital status to the married at specified ages, ratios of ex are decreasing under the age 50 in the single, 45 in the widowed and the divorced for males, 40 in the single and the divorced, and 35 in the widowed for females. And those are increasing over the above ages. We consider that the differentials of mortality order by marital status may denote and explain the probability of how mental, physical and social needs in family and social life are satisfied.
