ELASTIC AND INELASTIC SCATTERING OF 14.1 MeV NEUTRONS FROM LITHIUM AND CARBON

The differential cross sections for the elastic and inelastic scattering of 14.1 MeV neutrons have been measured for 7Li and 12C by the time-of-flight technique. For elastic scattering, satisfactry fit of optical model were obtained. The same optical model parameters were then employed in the DWBA calculation. The value of β_2 for the 4.63 MeV state of 7Li derived as from the DWBA calculation is in agreement with ones derived from other particle scattering experiment For carbon, the values of β_l for the 4.43 MeV and 9.63 MeV state show disagreements with values from other type of reactions. The total elastic scattering cross section is 841±28mb and 806 ± 17 mb for 7Li and 12C respectively. The emission of neutrons is 1.42± 0.069b and 1.40±0.077b for 7Li and 12C respectively.
