It tried to estimate the demand of the urban tourism in Japan using existing statistics. About the domestic visitors, the participation to the sightseeing activities in a city can grasp in detail by investigation of the rate of participation to a leisure-time activity. However, another questionnaire is required in order to pinpoint the place which the visitor visited. About the visitors who visited from the foreign country, the round numbers according to a visitor's nationality can be grasped. About action, the general condition in the main cities and a famous tourist resort can be known. However, the visitor aiming at sightseeing and the visitor of other purposes are unclassifiable. In order to turn urban tourism into a city key industries, maintenance of the institution which caught suitable demand and balanced it, and equipment is a pressing need.
