• H. Saegusa, famous materialist thinker, who declared that educational thoughts had been very poor in Japan and in the East in general, influenced very strongly some dominant educationists. But, his conclusions is deduced from peculiar premises. The educational thought in the East can not necessarily be understood only from such an angle. Besides, in the field of fact-finding, H. Saegusa often misunderstood the Confucian (the East's) educational thoughts. From our point of view, the East's educational thoughts has been very rich and suggestive.
