This is the study of a dissertation by Paul Eugene Pettit. This paper provided an introduction to the study and stated the problem under investigation. Also, it contained a review of the literature partinent to the study. The survey of the literature was directed toward the role of accounting in society. The review of the literature revealed that accounting was developed through the centuries in response to the needs of society. Accounting education is given a high priority by all nations because of the significant role that it plays in their development. Accounting teachers continually must search for new pedagogical strategies and innovations to help students succeed because of the fact that accounting content can be very difficult, time consuming, and frustrating for the student to learn.
