After the collapse of Roman Empire many conflicts or local war between the different tribes were happing in Europe. People were facing unstable social condition. There were no social rules or principles to controll and regulate social activity. Reflecting these social situation main form of human labor was fighting against enemies or toward protecting land or territories. To cope with this situation the church controlled by Roman Catholic played a very improtant role to build a new medieval society in Europe from 11th century to 13th century. Many churches were built in Europe. At that time main industry was an agriculture. Priests taught farmers how to cultivate land and work efficiently and the importance of religeon in every day life. At the same time they learned how to use of water power or to develop forests. Through these labor people learned the basic principle of labor and the importance of labor in life. Religeon and labor were closely related and this way of thinking contributed to maintain a very static and disciplined society. But new drastic movement to make a new society took place. In this connection Martin Ruter (1483〜1546) was a leader in bringing about new way of thinking toward religeon=Christanity. He emphasized the importance and absolute authority of the "Bible". Following Ruter's idea J.Calvin (1509〜1564) emphasized that human-being must engage in his own work and saving in his every day life and these human conduct would contribute to lead a more meaningful life. Their epoch-making ideas contributed to emerge a new society what we call a "Capitalist Society". In our next undertaking we must explore how newly emerging society has changed the labor structure and form drastically.
