The Abukuma Highland, formerly called Abukuma plateau has been discussed as the results of geomorphological peneplanation and referred as peneplain. Among them Yokitchi Mino conducted a comprehensive study on the Abukuma Peneplain and wrote a voluminous book, more than five hundred pages, on geomorphological peneplanation. From the results of his field survey and desk work Mino proposed a hypothesis that there are many short valleys where relief energy is small. This idea was proved to be true theoretically from the definition of relief energy. Hydrogeomorphologically the Abukuma Highland has a characteristics that there are many wind gaps and through valleys which entails difficulty of defining drainage divide. Some of the river basin were selected as the representative drainage basin for network analysis to testify Mino's hypothesis. Ukedo, Ohta, Kuromori and Jukkoku rivers are chosen and the drainage network of all these rivers conform with Horton's law of stream numbers.
