The purpose of this study is to reveal the cognitive structure of student beliefs about health and to compare it in Japan and China. After collecting data on beliefs about health in everyday life and a 50-item checklist was compiled, factor analysis by Varimax rotation was performed on the data obtained from 118 Japanese college students and 81 Chinese college students. The following five factors were obtained and named as "Autonomy" (Factor I), "Self-actualization" (Factor II), "Physical Factor" (Factor III), "Mental Factor" (Factor IV) and "Health-practice" (Factor V). Differences in factor scores between Japanese students and Chinese students were found in Factor I, III and IV.
