• More than a quarter of a century has elapsed since the debut of microcomputers. This period is almost equal to the half of the time passed since Atanasoff and Berry completed ABC, the first electronic computer in the history of human being. This means that the microcomputers have established their position in the second half of the history of electronic computers. This article reveals the technological background and situation related to the invention of a microcomputer and further introduces the author's view on their heritage to the current technologies. Although this article is brief and descriptive, most of its descriptions are based upon author's experience or quoted directly from the person-to-person discussions with the relevant people. Accordingly, this can contain subjective assertions of the author.
