概要

• The medium size SMES for an utility use in an urban area, 20MWh unit as an example, has been designed with the toroidal magnet configuration because of less leakage magnetic field than the solenoid configuration. However, we studied the solenoid SMES having a shield coil wound coaxially outside the main coil. As a result, we found the method to obtain a better storage efficiency and low leakage field without the loss of economics.
