For the Weibull distribution the maximum likelihood method does not provide an explicit estimator for the scale parameter for left-censored samples. We provide a simple method of deriving explicit estimator by approximating the likelihood function. It slightly modifies the method which Lee et al. and Balakrishnan used for estimating of the scale parameter with the censored samples from the Rayleigh distribution. We obtain the asymptotic variance and approximate bias of this estimator. We show that this estimator is as efficient as the best linear unbiased estimator.
