The development of natural science in the 19th century is investigated. We can divide the history of science in the 19th century into three periods. The first period is roughly from 1800 to 1840,the 2nd from 1840 to 1870,and the 3rd from 1870 to 1900. In the first period, many new fields were born, many fundamental things were introduced (or discovered), and the foundations of natural sciences in most fields were established. In the 2nd period, some synthetic theories in physics, chemistry and biology were completed, while many new germs appeared in many fields, especially in about 1860. Then in the 3rd period these germs grew, many phenomena were discovered, and science went on its way toward the evolution in the first stage of the next century. That is to say, the 3rd is the transitional period to the evolution of the 20th century.
