The long chain approximation (LCA) which was presented by G. R. Gavalas is considered to be valid for the analysis of the product distributions in thermal cracking of n-parafines. But in the application of LCA, satisfactory results had not been obtained. In this paper, the unsuitable points in the application example are investigated, and the reaction model is improved. An application of the improved LCA is given to the analysis of the thermal crackings of n-parafines of C_3∿C_8 and C_<16>. Comparisons of the analytical results with the existing experimental data are made, and sufficient results are obtained.
