It is the purpose of this report to present the experimental data for the characteristics of the actual fuel injection presure, and to present the analyzing method of the performance of the injection system on the high speed diesel engine. In this experiment, the fuel injection presure of the injection system (using Junkers pump) is measured in various conditions, i. e. at different pump speeds at different lever positions, by different diameters of the pump plunger or the nozzle hole and in different tube lengths. At the same time, formulas are derived for computing the instantaneous pressure delivered by a fuel pump of the by-pass valve with the optional cam profile. Additional formulas are given for determining the effect of the by-pass valve opening. And also the reflected pressure wave at the nozzle is analized. It is concluded in this report that the experimental fuel injection pressure curve conincides approximately with the curve indicated by the calculated data.
