Types and rates of pesticides applied to paddy fields vary spatially and temporally, and environmental fate and transport of pesticides considerably depend on environmental conditions, in addition to the physical-chemical properties. For ecological risk assessment of 4 herbicides applied to a paddy field in rice-planting season, exposure concentrations to aquatic organisms (PEC) were calculated using 2 mathematical models, which can estimate fate and transport in paddy fields and aquatic environment under the site-specific TEC, and Hazard Quotient defined as PEC/TEC, in which PEC is the 95th percentile value of PEC distribution show that assessed herbicides are at low risk to aquatic organisms.
