This note covers a preliminary investigation, from the experimental standpoint, of the secondary flows through a turbine cascade. It is shown that, due to the boundary layer on the walls of even a turbine cascade tunnel, appreciable interference is to be expected in the two-dimensional flow in the center of the tunnel. No correction has been made in the past for this kind of wind tunnel interference in cascade work although the error involved may be of the order of 2 deg, for aspect ratio of 1. Under nearly constant boundary lager thicknesses the experiments were made of aspect ratios of 1.86,1.61,1.3,1.01,0.7 and 0.54 respectively, and their outlet air angles and mean total head losses were measured each with zero incidence angles. Incidence angle was varied only with 1.86 aspect ratio but its remarkable effect on the secondary flows was clearly detected. With these few experimental data it is impossible to determine any empirical formulas but a general aspect of the secondary flow was somewhat unveiled.
