Recently a new process which can shape complicated forms in difficult-to-machine materials, by using light pressure, abrassive particles and ultsasonic vibration, has been developed. This process needs to produce powerful ultrasonic vibration, and for this purpose, authors made a new type with a square magnetostriction vibrator attatched with resonant exponential metal horn. This paper describes the construction, theory and actual measured constants of the vibrator. The resonant frequency is at 16k.c. or 24k.c. per second, and water cooling system is employed. Support is at the velocity node position of the horn, and uses rubber. Equivalent lumped constants have been derived and ascertained with values measured by additional mass method.
