Aminopolycarboxylic acids and amines used in this experiment are capable of forming water soluble complex compounds with cadmium. As the stability constants of these complex compounds are about 5∿20,it is interesting to test how the differences of the stability constant of these complexes affect the corrosion of cadmium. In acidic solutions, the addition of aminopolycarboxylic acid promoted the corrosion of cadmium. In neutral and alkaline solutions, the addition of these additives promoted the corrosion. The additives which can form water soluble complex compounds with cadmium also promoted corrosion.
