It is already known that Lichtenberg's figure in oil is used to study the breakdown mechanism of liquid insulator. In this paper, the characteristics of the Lichtenberg's figure in SHIBANOL S-12A, which is incombustible synthetic insulating oil, was searched and studied. The remarkable points are that Lichtenberg's figure was searched using 4-pots type Klydonograph to compare with that in transformer oil and that the fine points were raised in that method. That is, the contents are the relation of the size of twig shaped figure-voltage and the number of twig-voltage in oil. Generally, the figure in SHIBANOL oil is small and the twigs are few in a constant temperature, but the remarkable difference in the form of a figure was not found. From this experiment, that the chlorous insulating oil is strong in the character of corona on pre-breakdown but is very weak in the electro-characteristics after spark discharge is known from the figure.
