This paper describes a method to generate a high-quality free-form surface defined with contour and sectional curves. The generated surface, as a whole, is expressed as a parametric bicubic spline surface so that it is of class C^2. The fluctuations of curvature frequently observed in parametric spline surface are controlled low by keeping the size of patches relatively small which is realized by the automatic insertion of mesh points. The position of the inserted points is so fixed as to minimize the sum of deviations of the actual second order derivatives from their target. As the quality of shape of the surface depends on these target derivatives, they should be carefully decided. However some examples demonstrated even simply interpolated target derivatives are able to generate surface of good quality.
