The Laue equation, which has been used in the field of the diffraction of atomic beams from solid surfaces, is generalized to include exactly the effects of the atom-phonon interactions on the diffracted waves. This coupled differential equations are transformed into integral equation obeyed by the propagation matrix. The intensity formula for atom diffraction and the eigenvalue equation for atom adsorbed on solid surfaces are expressed in terms of the propagation matrix. Approximate solution of this integral equation is presented.
