The viscosity of suspensions of galena, ferrosilicon or pyrite smaller than 100-mesh size was measured by a viscometer. The author ascertained that the relation between viscosity and concentration is denoted by the formula (1) for the concentration smaller than 0.30. [numerical formula] where η_8=specific viscosity of suspensions, b=constant, c=concentration in volume, e=base of Naperian logarithms. For the concentration larger than 0.30,however, it seems that the formula (2) is suitable. [numerical formula] The value of b in Eq. (1) is affected by various factors, such as size, shape, surface condition and density of suspension medium. [numerical formula] where r=size of suspension medium, ψ=degree of sphericity of the medium, s=surface factor of the medium, δ=density of the medinm.
