Although the world of sports has become more scientific in recent years, there are however, still aspect of superstition that may influence many athletes. Why many athletes rely on accidental phenomena (e.g., a popular belief or an auspicious sign). These actions that depend on accidental phenomena are called 'jinx' or 'engi-katsugi' in japan. We would like to consider the principle of the athlete's dependence on accidental phenomena. But we are not concern in this paper with psychological effects of these behaviors, because our concern here is the structure of these actions ('jinx' or 'engi-katsugi'). For this examination we used a sort of conceptual devices : 1) the concept of object intention behavior, 2) the concept of contiguity; and 3) the concept of cognition dissonance. The following is our consideration on the principle of the athlete's dependence on accidental phenomena. Because of the function of 'object intention behavior', athletes believe accidental phenomena as a matter of concernment to their achievements. Besides, these actions of athletes that depend on accidental phenomena join with the results of their actions by the effect of 'contiguity', and it become a conditioned response. Furthermore, these actions are maintained by a reaction to decline 'cognition dissonance'. After this manner athletes will fall into the addiction to the rite.
