In this paper, the author takes the stance that when race and racism are studied in English as a Second (ESL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms, they are usually offered through a multiculturalism methodology. The author discusses what Anti-racism teaching involves and why this methodology gives students a fuller understanding about the topic of racism. He also discusses why Anti-racism techniques need to be employed when learning about racism and some of the considerations a teacher should heed if he or she decides to employ Anti-racism techniques in his or her class.
