This paper considers a model of durable consumer good. It is assumed to have a life of new and old. The consumer decides what is the optimal time for enjoying the novelty. The monopolist choice is to select the durability of the good to maximize profits and quote the price of the good. It is pointed out that the optimal durability can not be an interior solution as claimed in some of the recent works on the subjects. The reasons for this and some conjectures are spelt out.
