It can be said that this method meets the requirements in the purpose of identification of tablets for its simplicity in operation, quickness and exactness to some extent. It is possible to classify a tablet into its original series such as sleeping drugs or sulfonamides or antibiotics etc. And if a tablet was found to be an antibiotics further classification can be made to find whether it belongs to the series of tetracycline or Chloramphenicol or Penicillin. After a rough conjecture was made, the specimen will be compared with a tablet which is considered te be same sort and its constituent is already known. In the adjustment of concentration of the latter the increasing reliability could be gained by adjusting the color tone. Cautions required in this test are that the weighing of specimen must be made exactly in each time and the dropping reagent must be given in a fixed volume. In addition it is necessary to purify distilled water to the full extent for the test. In conclusion, the results obtained in this experiment were nearly same as that reported by Peter Cooper F.D.S. : Tablet identification by spot tests on paper; Pharmaceutical Journal (July, 21,1956). The authors are indebted to Dr. F. Kubo for his direction and Miss A. Kaneko for her co-operation.
