A Zinc (II)- selective electrode with a liquid membrane of zinc (II) exchanger is constructed and investigated. The exchanger is prepared with the extract of (Alkyl O)_2PO_2Ca and Zn (NO_3)_2 solutions. The liquid membrane electrode exhibits rapid and near Nernstian response to zinc ion activity from (10)^<-1> M to (10)^<-4> M in acetate buffer of pH 5-6. (Table I and Fig. 1) The influence of the coexisting cations are presented in Table II-IV and Fig. 2. It may be said that Na (I), K (I), Mg (II), Ba (II), Cr (III), Co (II), Ni (II) and Al (III) do not disturb the determination of zinc ion by the electromotive force measurement. But Sr (II), Mn (II), Fe (III), and Cu (II) slightly disturb the measurement and it may be said Ca (II) and Pb (II) are rather determined with this electrode. Divalent cation electrode of Orion Research exibits rapid and near Nernstian response to zinc ion activity from (10)^<-1> M- (10)^<-4> M, but the selectivity is inferior to the zinc (II)- selective electrode.
