A swirl gas-liquid two-phase flow is used in cyclone separetators of gas-liquid two-phase flow to remove small bubbles from gas-liquid two-phase flow, mixtures. However, the characteristics of the swirl gas-liquid two-phase flow are not clarified. In the present study, flow patterns were observed in swirl gas-liquid two-phase flow. The test section was a vertical pipe of a 30mm I.D.and approximately 5m height. The flow patterns were classified into four groups : cut-chain flow, chain-flow, twist flow and twist froth flow in the present experimental ranges. Flow regime map for the swirl gas-liquid two-phase flow was also obtained. Furthermore, the swirl length was measured. The characteristics were discussed.
